Light a Bulb with Your Very Own Potato Battery! Materials One large potato Two Pennies Two Zinc-covered nails Three pieces of wire A small flashlight bulb Knife Instructions 1. Wrap each penny with wire. 2. Cut the potato in half. 3. Cut a small slit in each half of the potato large enough for a penny. 4. Place one penny in each half of the potato. 5. Place one nail into each potato. Be sure that the nails do not touch the pennies. 6. Connect the wire from one penny to the nail on the other piece of potato. Wrap the wire around the nail a few times. 7. Take the last piece of wire and wrap it around the other nail. 8.
