The last date of reciept of application is 31 Mar 2014. Applications receipt after last date will not be entertained. (d) EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: For Engineers (Men and Women). Candidates studying in the Final Year of Engineering Degree and who are qualified graduates of the Degree Course in Engineering will be eligible to apply. The qualified graduates of the Degree Course must possess Engineering Degree at the time of joining training. The candidates studying in the final year of Degree Course, if not already in possession of the Degree Certificate should be able to produce the Engineering Degree within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at OTA. Such c andidates will be induc ted f or training at OTA on Additional Bond Basis for recover y of the cost of training as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate. Important Note :- Candidates must note that the minimum educational qualification for induc tion into SSC(Tech)-43course and SSCW (Tech)- 14 cour se is BE/B.Tech degree in the engineering stream notified in Para (1)(a) above. Therefore, to become eligible for induc tion into SSC(Tech)- 43Men cour se and SSC W (Tech)- 14 Women course, candidates studying in final year of engineering must complete all the formlities including viva voc e etc f or awar d of qualif ying BE/B.Tech degr ee befor e commencement of course, failing which their candidature is liable to be cancelled. 2. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY (a) NATIONALITY: A candidate must either be (i) a citizen of India or (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) a subject of Bhutan or (iv) Tibetan origin but of Indian domicile, whose parents entered India as refugees prior to 1st January 1962 with intention of per manently settling in India. (v) a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and East Af rican countries like Kenya, U ganda, United R epublic of Tanzania, Zambi, Malawai, Zair e, Ethopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories ( ii), (iii), ( iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose f avour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidate who are Gorkhas subject of Nepal. (b) Candidates withdr awn from IMA/OTA/Naval Academy/Air Force Academy on disc iplinary ground are not eligible to apply. (c) PHYSICAL STANDARDS: (i) HEIGHT & WEIGH T: The minimum acc eptable height and weight for men is 157.5 cms with correlated weight and for women candidate is 152 cm and 42 kg. In cas e of candidates belonging to the N orth East and hilly ar eas like Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese and Garhwalis, the height will be relaxed by 5 cms and weight commensurate with reduced height. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acc eptable height can be reduc ed by 2cms. (ii) VISUAL STANDARDS: The minimum acceptable visual acuity are: Distant vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse 6/18, Myopia of not more than minus 3.5 including Astigmation. Candidates who have undergone or have evidence for having undergone R adial Kar atotomy to impr ove the visual ac uity will be per manently r ejec ted. Candidates who have undergone Lasik Surgery for Correction of reflective error are NOT ac ceptable. (iii) PERMANENT BODY TATTOOS: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearm i.e, from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection. Tr ibes with tattoos mark on the fac e or body as per their existing custom and traditions will be permitted on a case to case basis. (iv) To be passed fit, a candidate must be in good physical and mental health free from any disability likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duty. (v) Prospective candidates are advised to excercise and keep themselves physically fit, in order to avoid any injury due to the rigorous physical training at OTA Chennai. In order to be able to adjust to the regime the candidates are advised to achieve following standar ds before joining the OTA, if finally s elected:(a) Running 2.4 Km in 15 minutes. (b) Push up - 13 Nos. (c) Sit ups - 25 Nos. (d) Chin ups- 6 Nos. (e) Rope climbing - 3-4 meter. 3. METHOD OF SELECTION: (a) SHORTLISTING OF APPLICATIONS AND SSB INTERVIEWS: Army Headquarters res erves the right to shor list applications and to fix cutoff perc entage of marks without ass igning any r eason. Initial c hec king of applications will be done at D ir ectorate General R ecr uiting, Ar my Hqs . Only shorlisted eligible c andidates depending on aggr egate perc entage of mar ks s c or ed will be c alled f or and assessed under aegis of Selection Centres, namely Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP) and Bangalore (Karnataka) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Off icer. Candidates will not be inter viewed locally. Allotment of Selec tion Centre is at the discretion of Army Headquarters and no requests of changes are entertained in this regard. (b) TWO STAGE SELECTION PROCEDURE: Two stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test is held at Selection Centres. All the candidates will face stage one test on first day of reporting at Selection Centres. The candidates who qualify in stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining tests. Those who fail to pass stage one will be returned on the same date. (c) MER IT LIST: IT IS TO BE N OTED THAT MERE QUALIFYIN G AT THE SSB INTERVIEW DOES NOT CONFIRM FINAL SELECTION. A MERIT LIST IS PREPARED FOR EVERY QUALIFICATION SUBJECT SEPARATELY PURELY ON THE BASIS OF MARKS OBTAIN ED BY THE CANDIDATES IN SSB IN TERVIEW AND AS SUCH HIGHER EDU CATION AL QUALIFIC ATION, PR EVIOU S PERFORMAN CES, N CC BACKGROUND ETC HAVE NO ROLE TO PLAY. THOSE HIGH IN THE MERIT LIST AND WHO COME WITHIN THE STIPULATED VACANCIES AND ARE MEDICALLY FIT ARE ISSUED JOINING INSTRUCTION FOR PRECOMMISSIONING TRAINING. (d) The merit list of the recommended candidates will be displayed at the reception of D G RTG and Indian Army Website i.e. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. 4. MEDICAL EXAMINATION: A candidate recommended by the Service Selection Board will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. The proc eedings of the Medical Board are confidential and will not be divulged to anyone. However, candidates dec lar ed unf it by the Special Medic al Board (SMB) will be intimated by the president of the Special Medical Board (SMB) the procedure for request for Appeal Medical Board ( AMB). Unfit Candidates should report for AMB within a maximum period of 42 days. Candidates are advised in their own interest to appear for AMB well in time and should not wait for the last date given by the SMB. Candidates are advised to note that Recruiting Directorate has no r ole to play in Appeal Medic al Boards and pr oc edur e advis ed by the medical authorities is strictly to be adhered to. Candidates declared unfit by AMB will be intimated by the President, AMB about procedure to challenge the finding of AMB. Candidates will also be intimated that Review Medical Board (RMB) will be granted at the discretion of DGAFMS based on the merits of the case and that RMB is not a matter of right. Candidates will be considered medically fit only on r ec eipt of the appr oved Medical documents fr om D irector ate General Medical Services in Dte Gen Rtg. (b) Pregnancy, if detected at any stage, after selection at SSB or during training will debar the c andidate from gr ant of c ommission. Note : Candidates are advis ed in their own inter es t to under go a preliminary medical check up for wax in ears, DNS, defective colour vision, over weight/under weight, piles, gynaecomasties, tonsilitis and visicocle before reporting for the SSB interview. 5. TRAINING AND PROPECTS : (a) Selected candiates will be detailed for training at Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai according to their position in the final order of merit, dis cipline wis e upto the number of vac anc ies available at the time (b) Duration of training - 49 weeks (c) Engineering Graduates will be granted Short Ser vic e Commiss ion ( on pr obation) and will be entitled to draw f ull pay and allowances admis sible to Lt during tr aining period. Pay and allowances will be paid after successful completion of training. (d) Candidates will neither be allowed to marr y dur ing the period of training nor will H e/She be allowed to live with parents/Guardians. Candidates must not marry until they complete the full training at the Officers Training Academy. A candidate, who married subsequent to the date of his/her application though successful at the Service Selection Board interview or medic al examination, will not be inducted f or taining. A candidate if he/s he marries, while under training, shall be dischar ged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him/her by the government. It is also applicable to widows of Defence Personnel. (e) Training at OTA is at Govt. expense All candidates who successfully complete Pre-Commission training at Officers Training Academy, Chennai will be awarded “ Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies” by University of Madras. (f) SSC (Tech) Engineering Graduate will be confirmed in Short Service Commission with an ante date seniority of one year from date of commission. (g) Widows of Defence personnel selected for SSC (NT) entry will be granted Short Service Commission in the rank of Lt but will not be entitled to any ante date seniority. (h) Ante Date Seniority. One year ante date seniority from date of commission will be applicable for Men and Women officers having Engineering D egree ( BE/B.Tech) from a rec ognized ins titution/university. 6. The final allocation of Arms/ Services will be made prior to passing out of Lady/ Gentlemen Cadets from OTA and will be the sole discretion of Integrated HQ, Min of Defence (Army) keeping in view the existing policy. No representation is tenable on this account. 7. SUITABILITY TO RETAIN SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION: If an Officer is reported upon within a period of six months from the date of confirmation of Short Service C ommiss ion as uns uitable to r etain his c ommiss ion, his commis s ion may be ter minated at any time, whether before or af ter the above period. 8. LIABILITY OF SERVICE: Officers may be granted Short Service Commission in any arms/services and will be liable for service in any part of the world on selected appointments as decided by Army Headquarters fr om time to time. 9. TENURE OF ENGAGEMENT: Short Service Commision to Officers (Male and Female) in the regular Army will be granted for 14 years i.e. for an initial period of 10 years extendable by a furhter period of 04 years. Male Officers who are willing to continue to serve in the Army after the expiry of period of ten years in Short Service Commission may, if eligible and suitable in all respects, be considered for the grant of per manent commis sion in the 10th years of their Short Service Commission in accordance with the relevant rules. Those SSC officers who are not selected for grant of PC but are otherwise considered fit and suitable, will be given option to continue as SSCOs for a total period of 14 years (including the initial tenure of 10 years) on expiry of which they will be released from the Army. SSC (Tech) Women Officers are not eligible for permanent commission. However, they can opt for extension of up to 14 years of service. THE ARMY OFFERS YOU 10. GROUP INSURANCE AND GRATUITY. The Gentleman cadets of OTA in reciept of stipend are insured for Rs. 50 lac w.e.f. 01 Sep 2011. Those who get medically boarded out of Academy on account of disability, the disability cover provided for 100% disability will be Rs. 25 lac which is proportionately reduced upto Rs. 5 lac for 20% disability. However, for less than 20% disability, only an ex gratia grant of Rs. 50,000/- will be paid. Disability due to alcohalism, drug addiction and due to the diseases of pre enrolment origin will not qualify for disability benefits and ex gratia grant. In addition, Gentleman cadet withdrawn on disciplinary ground, expelled as an undesir able or voluntarily leaving the Ac ademy will also not be eligible f or dis ablity benef its and ex gr atia. Subsc r iption at the r ate of Rs. 5,000/- will have to be paid in advance on monthly basis by the Gentleman cadets in receipt of stipend and will become members of the main Army Group Insurance Scheme as applicable to regular Army Officers. 14. LEAVE ENTITLEMENTS. On commission, officers are entitles to 60 days annual and 20 days casual leave every year (subject to service exigencies). They are also entilted for 40% rail concession to any place and free travel (as per extant rules) for self and family. Leave during training period will be as per the Training Policy in for ce. 15. SPORTS & ADVENTURE. The Army provides facilities to pursue any sport of your liking. In addition, one can learn and participate in adventure sports, such as River Rafting, Mountaineering, Hot air balooning, Hand gliding, Horse Riding etc. 16. PHYSICAL FITNESS. In OTA curriculam, a lot of emphasis is laid on Physical Fitness. You are therefore, advised to remain fit through physical exercises, sports, running, s wimming, etc . so that you meet training goals suc cessfully. 17. ST IPENED / PAY DU RING TR AIN IN G: During the per iod of training the candidates will be given stipened of Rs. 21000/- per month (Rs. 15600/- as pay in Pay Band + Gr ade Pay 5400/- ) . On c ompletion of training of f icer s ar e commissioned as Lt and entitled to the pay scale as given in para 10 above. 18. RESERVE LIABILITY: SSC Officer’s on release before or on expiry of contractual length of service will carry reserve liability to serve Army for five years plus two years on voluntary basis or upto the age of 37 years for women and 40 year s for men whichever is earlier. 19. (iii) While filling online application it is advisable to keep the relevant documents r eadily available as details are to be f illed as per matr ic ulation and other educ ational certificates. ( iv) Before c licking the submit button it should be chec ked whether all details entered in the form are correct as you will not be able to make any corrections after saving the record. (v) After submitting the form and acknowledgement of successful submission generated r oll number the buttons of pr int and s ave the application will appear. It is advisable to first save the online application and then take a print out. (vi) After submitting online application, candidates are required to obtain two copies of the application printout. One copy of print out application duly signed and affixed photogrph attested by Gazzetted Officer thereon and 10th Class certificate, 12th Clas s c ertific ate, D egree/Provisional Degree and marksheets of eight semesters of B.E/B.Tech, all in orginal alongwith two attes ted photocopies of all the above certificates are to be carried out to the Selection Centre by the candidate. Orginal will be retur ned after verification by the Selection Centre. The second copy of the print out of online application is to be retained by the candidate for his reference. No need to send any hard copy to DG Rtg / Rtg Dte. (vii) Candidates must submit only one application. Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature. 20. Any change in your postal address after submiss ion of application mus t be communicated by post duly quoting your Roll No., Name and course opted for. 21. Original Certificate should not be attached with the application form. Directorate General of Recruiting , Adjutant General’s Branch, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army) will not take responsibility for loss of original certificates, if attached with application. Photo should be pasted and not stapled . Attestation made on the back side of the photo will not be entertained. ESSENTIAL CERTIFICATES (a) Matriculation Certificate issued by the Board concerned (CBSE/State Boards/ CSCE) in which date of birth is reflected and no subsequent request for change in Date of Birth will be considered or granted. (Admit Card/ Marksheet/ Transfer/ Leaving Certifi cate etc. are not accept able) (b) Either the Original Degree certificate for BE/B Tech or independent marksheet of all years/semesters/parts of Engineering Degree for those candidates who have already passed. The application will be screened and shortlisted based on aggregate percentage of marks obtained by candidates at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of D ef ence (Army)/Dte Gen R tg and the c andidate thereaf ter will be detailed for SSB. (b) Application must be accompanied by attested (By a Gazetted Officer of the Central/State Govt/1 st Class Magistrate etc.) photocopies of 10 th class certificate issued by the Board concerned (CBSE/State Boards/ICSCE) in which date of birth is reflected for proof of date of birth (Admit card/Marksheet/Transfer/Leaving Certificate etc. are not acceptable for proof of date of birth) and 10+2 certificate and Marksheet for proof of education. Revised marksheets issued by a Board/ University after last date of receipt of application will not be acepted for this course. However, the same will be accepted for the subsequent course. (c) Shortlisted candidates will be detailed to undergo SSB interview from Jun 2014 onwards. No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of test conducted at SSB. No intimation will be given to the candidate in writing or verbally to submit certificate or any other required documents. 23. CHANGE OF INTERVIEW DATES: Request for change of SSB interview date should be avoided. However under most unavoidable circumstances, such change may be considered based on the circumstances of the case. This will be an exception rather the rule. Request for such change should be forwarded to Selection Centre from where the call up letter for SSB interview has been received and not to Directorate Gener al R ecr uiting. The Selec tion Centr e may Permit c hange of date at their discretion. 24. ENTITLEMENT FOR TRAVELLING ALLOWANCES Candidates appearing for SSB inter view for the f irs t time for a partic ular type of c ommis sion, s hall be entitled to AC-III tier to and fro railway fare or Bus fare including reservation cum sleeper charges wihin the Indian limils. Candidates who apply again for the same type of commission will not be entitled to travelling allowances on any subseqent occasion. 25.
