an "Islamic caliphate" and
ordered Muslims worldwide
to pledge allegiance to their
chief, in a spectacular bid to
extend their authority.
The Islamic State of Iraq
and the Levant renamed itself
simply the Islamic State (IS)
and declared its frontman the
leader of the world's Muslims,
in a clear challenge to al-Qaeda for control of the global
jihadist movement.

Islamabad, June 30: Pakistan army today launched
ground operation in North
Waziristan tribal region,
beginning a new phase in
its major offensive against
Taliban militants.
"After the evacuation of
all civil population, ground
operation commenced in
and around Miranshah
early morning today," military spokesman Maj Gen
Asim Saleem Bajwa said.
He said house-to-house
search of the Miranshah
town is being carried out by
troops and special service
group. "So far 15 terrorists
have been killed in ground
offensive. Troops have

far, cleared area," he said.

New Delhi, June 30: In a relief
to hundreds of visiting Afghans,
India today announced a new
liberal visa policy for the citizens of the war-ravaged country that include allowing stay
up to two years and exemption
from police reporting for senior
citizens and children.
The new visa policy for
Afghanistan nationals is being
introduced on humanitarian
grounds for two years with effect
from tomorrow, a Home Ministry
spokesperson said.
As per the policy, Afghanistan nationals will be allowed to
stay in India on stay visa/resident permit up to two years at
a time. Exemption from police
reporting will be granted for
Afghans below 12 years or
above 65 years.

Karachi, June 30: Pakistani authorities here
have sent a water bill
amounting Rs 263,774 to
Fatima Jinnah, the sister
of the country’s founder
Muhammad Ali Jinnah,
47 years after her death.
The Karachi Water and
Sewerage Board has sent
the bill to Fatima Jinnah
and she has been directed
to pay the amount within
10 days of receipt of the
notice, or the connection
of water and sewerage
could be disconnected, the
News reported.
It said that according to
the Land Revenue Act, the
property could be confiscated, auctioned and a fine
can be imposed.
Moreover, she can
also be arrested. According to the notice, the last
date for payment of the
amount was May 28. In

A meeting of all Agriculture Research Scholars of J&K, presently
working as Rehbar-e-Zirats (ReZs) in the department of Agriculture,
was held on 19-06-2014 (4.30 pm) at Srinagar wherein it has been
unanimously decided to constitute a welfare organization which will
take care of various issues/ problems being faced by these Research

I, BSNL subscriber (Tel No 2429949) am highly thankful to Deputy
General Manager, BSNL, Srinagar Mr. Mufti Masharib, IES, for
getting restored my 7 month long held up broadband expeditiously.
Previously, I used to approach the concerned authorities off and on
to get the technical snag of the system removed as it hampered my
work badly but of no avail. Lastly, I was constrained to bring this
issue in the notice of DGM Sahib, who without wasting a minute
referred the matter through telephone conferencing to Mr. Irfan Sahib,
the Sub Division officer of BSNL. He immediately deputed BSNL
official, Bashir Ahmad Shah, broadband expert to my home. Shah
visited the spot and detected the actual fault at once. It was the local
high-tension wire which caused irritant to the system. Subsequently,
Shah removed the trouble and made my broadband usably functional.
Today, I feel myself obliged and duty bound to express my gratitude
to Jinab Mufti Sahib, and his subordinate staff for their timely help. If
BSNL works like this under the dynamic leadership of Mufti Sahib, the
day is not far away when the company will once again be heart-throb
of its valued subscribers.
