So I am nowhere involved in the appoint of three can- didates as Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). About the appointment of minors as Contingent Paid Workers, the CEO admitted that some CPWs were initially engaged by the respective heads of schools who were underage at that time. “The matter was referred to the Directorate. The Director School Education Kashmir issued clear cut instructions vide letter No. DSEK/NT/CPW/39-44/2013/ All/3666-75 dated 20-14-2013 which stated that the underage CPWs who have attained the age of 18 years should be regularized,” the CEO said. “I was bound to follow the direction of the Directorate.” Heat affects prisoners’ health: Nayeem Khan Srinagar, June 30: Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) senior leader and National Front chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan on Monday expressed concern over the deteriorating health of the scores of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in different jails outside Kashmir due to sweltering heat, demanding immediate shifting of all Kashmiri prisoners to the valley. “Most of the Kashmiri prisoners, languishing in jails like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jodhpur, Madras, Delhi, Kuthua, Jammu, Hiranagar etc have taken seriously ill and are falling unconscious every now and then due to scorching heat. So all these prisoners should be shifted to the valley as soon as possible,” Khan said while addressing a party meeting here. “All Kashmiri convict prisoners, who are languishing in different jails, are not provided ample opportunity to defend themselves, proving that their conviction is not based on justice. We demand their immediate shifting as well so that their kith and kin can see them,” a spokesman of the Front, in a statement today, quoted Khan as having said. 14635 pay obeisance at Cave shrine Srinagar, June 30: Despite heavy snowfall during the past winters and consequent implications, the number of Yatris paying obeisance at Holy Cave has been steadily increasing with the commencement of Yatra on June 28 from Baltal Route. Today on the third day of the Yatra, 14635 Yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave, while on June 28 and 29, as many as 8899 and 11182 Yatris respectively had paid their obeisance. However, no decision so far has been taken by the authorities over the announcement of the summer vacations for the school going children. A delegation of parents said that despite rise in the temperatures and inadequate facilities at the government schools in valley, the decision over the summer holidays has been kept in limbo, giving tough time to the kids. Parents while expressing resentment over the silence of the department about the immense increase in day temperatures stated that no facilities are in place for their children at schools to beat the scorching heat. “Where are the authorities at present who keep on claiming to have the best infrastructure at schools? Our children faint when they reach home as no measures have so far been taken in the schools during the ongoing hot summers,” said Mukhtar Ahmad, a Srinagar resident.
