Addressing a gathering at the Martyr’s graveyard, he said "The restrictions, hartal and imprisonment of separatist leaders along with rest of the city is a grim reminder of the treachery that NC practiced against the people of Kashmir.” On Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent statement that why PDP was silent over no IIT for Kashmir, Karra said: “Chief Minister has only a one month back opposed establishment of IITs and IIMs in every state as a 'terrible idea'.” Quoting the Chief Minister’s tweet on June 9, 2014: “IITs and IIMs in every state is a terrible idea and will dilute these institutions’’, Karra said Omar must explain his objections to the proposal in the light of announcements of an IIT for Jammu, and not try to mislead the people of Kashmir again who are aware of the PDP’s performance as against the NC’s dominance of political scene. "But it is a sign of changing times if Omar expects us to bring an IIT to Kashmir and we assure that we won't disappoint our people" he added. Recalling the observance of Martyr's day during the tenure of PDP led coalition, Karra said no restrictions were imposed during that period. “Everyone was free to participate and pay homage to our national heroes,” he said. Sd/Mr Waqar Aalam Spokesperson (JKGLTF) District: Ganderbal M-006 Srinagar, July 13: Scores of youth Sunday staged a day long sit-in protest at main Chowk Habba Kadal, demanding arrest of driver who they allege was responsible for hitting local youth, resulting in his on spot death. They alleged that police is not taking any action to nab the accused person. Adil Ahmad Shaksaz of Habba Kadal was hit by a vehicle at Sonwar on Saturday around 2 pm. Quoting eye witnesses, they said that Adil was returning from GB Pant hospital after visiting some ailing patient there. “He was on bike and was driving on his track with low speed. A vehicle coming from wrong side hit him, resulting his on spot death,” they said, quoting eye witnesses. “Police can see the footage of CCTV which is installed in Sonwar, a place where accident took place. We fail to understand why police is not taking advantage of various options which could lead to a major breakthrough,” they said. Protestors dispersed after officials from police station Ram Munshibagh assured them that the accused would be nabbed within 24 hours. Meanwhile, Ajaz Ahmad Marazi, a youth said that Adil was a brother of three sisters, and was the sole bread earner. “He took over the responsibilities of family as his father was not in good health,” he said. He added that Adil was earning to feed his family and to get her sisters married. “Police is saying that preliminary investigations suggest that it was Sumo of maroon colour,” said a police official, privy to investigation. He said that SHO Ram Munshi Bagh himself on Saturday rushed to spot after the accident. “He went upto Pampore in an effort to nab the accused (vehicle). He also communicated the message to other police stations asking them to arrest accused, if found in their jurisdictions,” he added. He said that three police teams have been deputed to arrest the accused. “One team is visiting different sumo yards, another is deputed to check CCTV footage and third one has been sent to Islamabad district,” he added. SHO police station Ram Munshi Bagh, Subzar Ahmad said that vehicle has claimed the human life. “All possible efforts are on to solve the case and nab the accused. We assure strict action under law would be taken,” he said. Sd/- Estate Officer Chief Executive Officer
