CROSSING HAZRATBAL, SRINAGAR, KASHMIR Appeal Bis’m-illa’h-ir-rahma’n-ir-ahim Reverend Sir, Peace be with you You are well aware of the prevailing circumstances in Kashmir. Here, in the past, Islam was under the threat of Dogra government and the lives of Muslims were no safer individually. Under the conspiracy, the Muslims were rendered poverty stricken with no access to education. At that time, here, in Kashmir, one would not even imagine of any elementary Madarrasa (where the basics of Islamic education could be imparted), let alone the presence of any reputed Islamic institution. Some Kashmiri’s moved away from here, and obtained Islamic education in other parts of India and attained greatness. Universal recognition of well-known personalities of Kashmir is the sign of presence of high caliber here, in Kashmir. Under new circumstances, the situation has undergone a complete change. Now Islam and Muslims, both are under great constant threat. So far, where ever such threats existed in the Muslim world, our noble men-God-fearing, perspicacious, took steps to fight them out, in the form of establishing Madarrasa, their maintenance and support, in order that Muslims would remain known to Islam at least; and the violent storm of problems and difficulties would not snatch their religious asset away from them. Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir has remained without any distinguished or reputed Madarrasa since ages. Here, only few Madarrasa and government schools were run in mosques that too according to the methodology of the government. One could understand the fate of such Madarrasa, as they were against the true spirit of Islam and Muslims. In the present agonizing situation, on seeing the sorrowful condition of Islam and Muslims; with the intent to keep Islam and Muslims really safe, in and around Srinagar; a Madarrasa, Darul-ul-uloom Anwar-ul-Islam Srinagar has been established. With the grace of Allah, the Darul-ul-uloom has progressed extraordinarily in a very short span. In spite of unfavorable circumstances, it is stepping ahead towards progress and stability. In the adversity of Kashmir and its present catastrophe, nothing would be done without your support to bring it up to the required level of development or the level we have in view. Here, in the dreadful cold winter, the students and workers of the Darul-ul-uloom are at work under severe difficulties. Number of aspiring students is increasing but the monetary problem is a hindrance to their attachment. Construction of lecture theatres, student hostel, kitchen, Library and land in particular are worrying me and my sincere companions and is impelling us to appeal before our well-wishers. Believe us, under the catastrophic circumstances in Kashmir, your support will be cause of great fruits, Insh-Allah, and it would emerge into such a Madarrasa that it would fully counter the anti-Islam and anti-Muslim forces.
