12 Greater Kashmir Srinagar | August 01, 2014, Friday epaper.GreaterKashmir.com facebook.com/DailyGreaterKashmir JK to have 11 new JNVs, says HRD Min ‘Construction of 9 nearing completion’ New Delhi, July 31: The Union Government is constructing 11 new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which nine are nearing the stage of completion, Minister for Human Resource Development, Zubin Irani said in Parliament. The Minister was replying to a question by Rajya Sabha Member G N Ratanpuri. The JNVs are coming up at Kupwara, Budgam, Kargil, Shop- ian, Rajouri, Poonch, Ganderbal, Doda, Reasi, Jammu-I and Samba. Irani stated that almost 90 percent work has been completed at most of the places except Poonch and Kargil. She said the construction at Poonch, Reasi, Jammu-I and Samba has been delayed due to slow pace of work on the part of construction agencies. The construction at Kupwara, Budgam, Ganderbal, Shopian, Rajouri, Doda and Kargil has been delayed due to difficult terrain and severe climatic conditions. “Work in some of these areas was also affected due to law and order problems,” the Minister added. The Navodaya Vidyalaya scheme envisages setting up one JNV in each district of the country. So far 598 JNVs have been sanctioned.
