Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj bhavan today. The deputation discussed with the Governor several important issues which relate to promoting effective and sustained academic interactions and two way flows between the teachers and Principals of Colleges and the University to which they are affiliated. In this context the delegation suggested the usefulness of Principals of Colleges being considered for appointment as Controllers of Examinations for undergraduate and post graduate courses, their involvement and representation on the University Council, Syndicate, Academic Council and other Bodies and Committees of the University. The Governor assured the delegation that their suggestions would be discussed in the coming meetings of the University Councils. He urged the academicians to work collectively for continuously raising the academic standards in all the colleges of the State. Lok Adalat settles 45 cases at Pattan Baramulla, July 31: A Lok Adalat was organized by the Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Pattan today under the Chairmanship of Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Vinod Kumar, who is also Sub Judge Pattan. As many as 65 cases of different nature were taken up during the said Lok Adalat, out of which 45 cases were settled amicably on the spot. An amount of Rs. 33,600/was realized as fine. Employability got special impetus in JK during Omar’s tenure: Rana Jammu, July 31: Enumerating the initiatives of Omar led government in enhancing employability, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana said on Thursday that the main plank of the government has been to combat burgeoning unemployment by exploring new career shaping avenues within and outside Jammu and Kashmir. Flagging off All India Pre Recruitment Training Academy at a function held at Harkishan Public School at Nanak Nagar here, Rana said that governmental efforts have generated a hope among the unemployed and helped to address this problem substantially. Referring to the steps taken by the government for making youth relevant to job market, Rana said skill development has been given impetus during the past over five and half years. As many as 20 polytechnique and 52 industrial training institutions have been set up across the state during the past five and half years. Rana gave an overview of the various other measures taken by the Omar led government to encourage entrepreneurship among youth so that they become employers rather than employees. “The entrepreneurship development holds key to boost productivity besides generating avenues for skilled and unskilled work force”, he said and hoped that the youth will enter into this arena as it provides vast opportunities of progress and success. Taj directs making all operation theatres fully equipped, functional Srinagar, July 31: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi ud Din has asked the Hospital authorities to make the operation theatres fully equipped and functional so that patients do not face any inconvenience. Chairing a meeting to review the status of operation theatres at various hospitals, the Minister asked the authorities concerned to revisit the facilities and functionalities at the opera- tion theatres in order to serve the patients in a better and efficient way. The meeting was told that 32 operation theatres are functional at GMC, Srinagar and its associated hospitals against 29 last year. It was also given out that during the last financial year 17,000 surgeries were conducted in these theatres.
