In its journey across the supply chain right from the manufacturers to the patients, these medicines are handled and stored by various stakeholders i.e., Transporters, Airports, Sea ports, Distributors, Stockiest, Retailers, Doctors, Pharmacists and Hospitals etc. The Storage and handling of Cold Chain Pharmaceuticals are unique in nature and the same is required to be maintained in the entire distribution chain to ensure that the patients get the medicinal product without compromise to its quality. Also it will be pertinent to note that a significant number of products in the new product pipeline of global pharmaceuticals industry would fall under the biological categories which are expected to be launched in next 10 years. These products would be requiring stringent system of Cold Chain management. Hence speeding of awareness on the requirements of proper cold chain management system is the need of hour. The essence of this notice is to ensure that the Stake holders provide special temperature-controlled cold storage for Cold Chain Medicines to help in maintaining their quality and efficacy. Cold Chain products like vaccines and sera are sensitive biological substances that can become less effective or lose their potency if not stored properly. For example, products that are required to be stored between 2°C to 8°C could become ineffective if: 1. They are frozen or stored below 2°C 2. Exposed to temperature above 8°C 3. Exposed to direct sunlight or fluorescent light. The Livestock was examined by the expert team of doctors and necessary treatment and medications were given on the spot to the animals. Free of cost medicines and dosing material were also provided to the farmers at the camp.
